An invitation for KS2 pupils, to attend a celebratory event at AMSI.

Last year our school was privileged to participate in the campaign to erect a statue of Mary Seacol eoutside St. Thomas’s Hospital. The campaign was led by Professor Elizabeth Anionwu who inspired students by sharing the similarities between her life in medicine and Mary Seacole’s.

In June 2016 the statue was finally unveiled and Elizabeth Anionwu has been acknowledged in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list and is now a ‘Dame’.

To celebrate this occasion, AMSI is inviting FutureZone Partners to a celebratory afternoon with Dame Elizabeth as our special guest of honour on Thursday 23 March 2pm – 3pm. She will talk to pupils about her remarkable life and the challenges she faced in creating Mary Seacole’s statue. It is fitting that March honours International Women’s Week as she is a very inspirational woman – so please bring a class of pupils to this special occasion.

To book your seats please contact Ashley Grey, Community Arts Coordinator on greya@artsandmedia.islington.sch.uk  before 10 March.

We look forward to seeing you there!
