I am a qualified English language teacher and secondary school English teacher with experience of teaching adults and children in various schools in three very different countries and cultures. I am also a qualified and experienced consultant Statistician, leading data projects for large clients such as Royal Mail, Network Rail and Medical Research Council. As well as coaching football, I have written reports for the government on the development of Gifted and Talented children.
The sport that I coach is football, and I have coached children, adults and coaches in football for nearly 20 years. I worked as Director of Junior and Youth Coaching at the biggest football club in New Zealand for several years. I also coached international age-group players and coached youngsters on National Academies, and ran Level 1 and 2 coaching courses on behalf of the national FA. More recently, I have coached 7-14 year old boys and girls at Watford FC Academy and Centre of Excellence. In football, I am qualified to UEFA B level, and have completed the FA Youth Coaches Award. I have also completed FA Level 5 Psychology in Football, and was a football pundit on Setanta Sports until 2009. I completed the FA Youth Module 3 in June 2011. I run the Ministry of Football football skill development programme in Muswell Hill, which offers positive learning environments to children aged 4-14.
As part of a placement with Voluntary Service Overseas between 2000 and 2003, I worked with national and provincial education departments and schools to develop a curriculum for secondary education that was more relevant to the needs of school leavers in that context. I am a big believer in ‘relevant’ education, and consider that this may be different for each learner.
As part of Future Zone, I run the PE Network, which involves working closely with PE Co0ordinators and Senior Leaders in schools. I have been involved with Future Zone since 2014.
